Daily Fragrance: Chanel No. 5 Eau de Cologne. My brother is having an MRI today. I prepared myself by watching Lilo and Stitch and crying a lot. I chose Chanel No. 5 to help me tap into my inner stiff-upper-lip WASP. That sharp blast of aldehydes in the opening is instantly comforting.

Daily Shower Product: Lush Happy Hippy Shower Gel. The shower gels are my favorite Lush product, and I have a lot of favorite Lush products. Caramel-y It’s Raining Men is my #1, but the scents are excellent across the board. Happy Hippy is one of the simpler scents, a hardcore, photorealistic grapefruit.

Daily Recipe: Korean-American Everyday Cooking Bulgogi. Why aren’t there more graphic novel cookbooks? I found this little guy for $4 at MOCCA Fest (Museum of Comics and Cartoon Art). Easy, savory Korean comfort food, with adorable illustrations and occasional cat appearances.

Day 4 of band camp. (New band director. Second year of new band director, as the one who was new LAST year has moved on. Gah. Kids seem to be doing well, though.)

SOTD is Flowerhead again. Finally finished my review.

The weather has been beautiful this week.

If you don’t mind my asking, is there something particular the MRI should reveal or rule out with regards to your brother’s treatment? I’ll be thinking of you and your family today. No. 5 is perfect for smelling wonderful while hiding fear and heartache, in my opinion.

Sending excellent thoughts to your brother and your family.

Thank you very much, SallyM. Your tea sounds wonderful- get those antioxidants, girl! :)

Thank you so much for thinking of us, sweet Mals. The MRI will determine whether we proceed to surgery or continue to wait and monitor.

I’ll be on the lookout for your Flowerhead review! I’ve tried it a few times at Barney’s and haven’t really made up my mind about it.

Thinking of you and your family today and hoping for the best outcome for your brother’s MRI.

Thank you very much, Tatiana. Silences PdT is really nice- I noticed that it’s one of the last perfumes left in the Bendel’s 60% off sale.

SOTD Chanel no 5 vintage perfume (it just feels comforting).
I’m sorry about the MRI waiting game. It’s hard. Whenever I am feeling scared and helpless, snicker doodle cookies help.

No. 5 twinsies! Maybe I will wear L de Lolita Lempicka tonight- that cinnamon note can get pretty snickerdoodle-y!

I hope your brother’s MRI goes well, and that the results are good.

My SOTD is Lolita Lempicka Eau de Minuit. Got a really good clearance deal on it at Urban Outfitters. At first I kind of wondered what I was thinking buying it because I didn’t know if it would be different enough from the original I already had. I think it is, though.

I love Lush shower gels. I haven’t been in Lush in some time because that place is a danger to my bank account, so I haven’t had any. Flying Fox and Rose Jam (when it’s available) were favorites, and I also really loved Grass. I haven’t tried It’s Raining Men, but the description sounds tempting.

I’m currently using Alba Botanica Very Emollient shower gel in Midnight Tuberose. It’s a surprisingly earthy take on tuberose/jasmine for a shower gel, which I like. It’s a huge bottle, so it’s probably going to last me a while.

Thank you, Jennifer. Urban Outfitters has some weirdly amazing bargains from time to time- once I found some LaVanilla scents for $4. (Although that’s about as much as that Vanilla Passionfruit was worth, to be honest.)

I hope things go well with the MRI. Medical tests are so stressful whether you’re getting them or know someone having them. Stay strong.
This evenings perfume is Ore. I smell wonderful. It’s a lot more chocolatey than I remember. Thanks again!
I’ve tried to buy things at Lush but I get overwhelmed and my nose stops working in those stores. One of these days I’m just going to close my eyes and pick a shower gel I think.

Thank you, Poodle. The cocoa note in Ore is incredible. I’m so happy you’re enjoying it!

Lush can definitely be overwhelming, and the sales staff is taught to be super enthusiastic, which can sometimes come off as pushy. Maybe we can tackle it together the next time you’re in New York! :)

SOTD is Timbuktu, shower gel is Shea Moisture Black African Soap Body Wash, with Cetaphil for the more sensitive areas. It’s Raining Men is by far the best name for a body wash ever. I am not a fan of Korean food–it’s the only cuisine that smells worse to me than the Polish food that stunk up every family reunion on my Dad’s side.

Best of luck to your brother. It is good to live in the time of advanced medical technology.

Thank you, Laurels. I couldn’t agree more about the privilege of medical progress. I can’t wait for Star Trek tricorders to become reality :)

Timbuktu is one of the few L’Artisans I still don’t know very well. There’s really no excuse, since Sephora has $30 10 mls!

I hope things go well with the MRI – the wait is always painful :( I love lush products, but whenever I go in the store, I get so overwhelmed that I don’t know what to pick anymore because my nose just stops working. I absolutely love your posts~ Extremely fun to read! Can you review Vain Pursuits please? I started hearing about them more and more and would love to hear what you think of them!
