One of my greatest fears is that I will eventually become a perfume snob. What if I wake up one day and find myself suddenly only able to enjoy perfumes that are at least $250 and exclusive to Belgium? What if I start saying things like “Oh my God, Becky, look at her Pink Sugar”? I have decided to preempt this potential descent into perfume snobbery with an exciting new project: I am going to explore the perfumes on the 2011 top 20 best sellers list. I am going to do my damnedest to review these mainstream scents without automatically dismissing them as generic or derivative. I will be subjecting them to the judgement of my boyfriend, my college-age peers, and anyone else that I can convince to smell my wrist. Someone is buying these perfumes, and I intend to find out why.
EauMG, Daly Beauty, and No Disassemble Charlie No. 5 have all expressed interest in participating in this project. Would anyone else like to join me in my experiments? Please let me know so that I can provide links to your results! You absolutely do not have to be a perfume blogger to participate! If you do not have your own perfume blog, email me your thoughts on/reviews of these fragrances at firstname.lastname@example.org and I will post them here. You are also 100% welcome to use my pitifully drawn banner.
