Zelda and I want to wish all of our readers, both the single ladies and those whose significant others have already put a ring on it, the happiest of Valentine’s Days. Now dish! How are you celebrating, and what perfume will you be wearing? Drew and I are going to an indoor water park and then going out for yakiniku (Japanese barbecue). I’m thinking of wearing Kenzo Amour Le Parfum- it’s warm, sweet, and pays tribute to our Japanese dinner plans.
Oh, and for those wondering what Valentine’s Day present your perfume purchases were funding… you have helped me to save $279 towards Drew’s plane ticket to Israel! Thank you so much. We are both so excited for him to visit our homeland for the very first time.
I’m wearing Lipstick Rose, again. Thank you! It just seemed appropriate.
As for Valentine’s Day, my fiance’ & I more or less did that thing on Saturday. He made dinner, we had wine, caviar and watched Top Gear while Tora lounged across him being the skankasaurus kitteh she is. I’ve been finishing off a bottle of chocolate infused red wine and image I’ll have the last of it tonight … and then chain myself to my sewing machine while the fiance’ is at school. He has night classes only this semester so I never see him until 10:30 most nights. I’d buy roses but I just don’t want to pay $75 for something I can normally get for $15.
Hooray!!! You smell absolutely beautiful! Roses are CRAZILY priced today. I tried to get some for my parents, but ended up going with carnations instead after blanching at the prices.
The florist is right beside my office & I patronize them frequently b/c I love keeping live roses. Depending on who’s working I can get a dozen for $10 on any given day. $15 is the going rate for 3 … except today, where a vase w/ 3 roses and some garnishing froof is $75. No thank you.
Roses are just nutso expensive today… I got some lovely yellow ones from the CEO last week, which was sensible of him. (Yellow is my favorite rose, he wasn’t just being cheesy.)
We’ll have a nice family dinner this evening. Chicken Cordon Bleu, I think, and roast potatoes and broccoli, followed by Chocolate Truffle Pie with raspberries. The kids will get small boxes of candy each, and CEO is getting his very own Gres Cabaret, which I have now decanted out of its heeeedious original bottle into a plain one. (DO NOT tell him it’s supposedly for women. It smells great on him.)
Haven’t yet picked scent for the day. It will definitely be something rosy – maybe Velvet Rose, maybe Paris – and then I’ll put on some Lumiere Noire pour femme later.
So you and DRew are going to Israel together? great idea, hope it’s a wonderful trip.
How sweet! Yellow roses are my favorite kind, too. I love giving them to friends. Your menu for tonight sounds delicious, and I promise not to tell the CEO š
Undina is sending me a sample of Velvet Rose! I’m sooo excited to try it!
Thank you so much for your good wishes- I think we will go over the summer, before he starts at grad school (wherever that will be!)
OH! And I am shamelessly putting this pic of Bookworm up everywhere I can possibly do it. She is amazing.
Wow!!! She looks so tough and so gorgeous! Was she just finishing a race in this picture?
Just starting a 4 x 800m relay. She’d qualified to run the 3200m by her time in a race in Dec., but because of her plantar fasciitis, her coach wouldn’t let her run anything longer than half a mile.
She’s 5’1″ of guts and dimples and piano wire and blond ponytail. I lurve her to little bitty pieces.
Aw! I ran the 4×8 in high school. Doesn’t sound like I was nearly as good as Bookworm, though. My team was pretty bad but I had soooo much fun in track and gained so much confidence – seeing this brings back so many happy memories. Awesome!!
I’m still sickly (yet much less grumpy than yesterday), so we’ll be going nowhere, but that’s ok. I felt good enough to spritz on some Sexy Graffiti. I made Al his annual mix cd, but with the invent of the Shazam he can identify all the songs…. We had a text conversation earlier with my final words being “Hey! Bitches Ain’t S#)t is TOTALLY a love song!”
You plans sound super fun and your gift = GREAT!
Anything can be a love song to someone! š I’m so glad to hear that you’re feeling better, don’t you dare let those little virions keep you from having a great V-day! Show them who’s boss!!!!
I logged on to find out just that, and you preempted my question… Glad that the Israel fund is mounting with the proceeds.
I am wearing the Boyfriend you sent me – so apt, so timely! I love it.
Zelda looks like butter wouldn’t melt in her mouth in that pic – wouldn’t have thought she could possibly be such a serial biter! : – )
I have knuckled down finally to doing my expenses from the last three overseas work trips. Tedious and fiddly work, but satisfying.
I feel like an absolute Madame, hooking you up with this Boyfriend! š I’m so glad that it reached you in time, and that you’re enjoying it!
I’m wearing and loving Douce AmĆØre in honor of this Love Celebration. Happy Valentine’s Day to you all!!!
No Valentine for me, though. Here we have St George’s Day on 23th April. š It is the second most important National Feast in Catalonia, where the day is known in Catalan as La Diada de Sant Jordi and it is traditional to give a rose (red, yeah, but it’s a very specific symbol:)) and a book to a loved one.
– UNESCO declared this day the International Day of the Book since 23 April 1616 was the date of death of both the English playwright William Shakespeare (according to the Julian calendar) and the Spanish author Miguel de Cervantes (according to the Gregorian calendar) –
Whoooo! Happy International Day of the Book! That’s a holiday I can get excited about, too!!
Happy Valentine’s Day to you and Drew!
Matt and I are going to have Indian food for lunch, and might catch a trouble feature special event being put on at my bookstore for staff.
Hopefully, there will also be chocolate somewhere…
š
I want in on the trouble feature special event.
If Matt knows what’s good for him, I’m sure there will be! š Have a wonderful time!
Won’t be doing too much tonight since it is a school night (for my husband), so he will be studying. I got some nice steaks, so I’ll grill those up and have them with homemade mashed potatoes and green beans. Trader Joe’s bonbons for dessert – they are the bomb!
My husband’s idea of a perfect valentine would be for me not to wear any perfume (since he gets migraines from scent). I spritzed some FM Noir Epices this morning and it is pretty big and heavy. Hoping it simmers down soon.
I am wearing my new Crazylibellule and the Poppies crazy stick in Rose A Saigon… it’s a sweet, fruity rose that dries down kind of spicy-woody… actually reminds me a lot of Andy Tauer’s Une Rose Vermeille. I figured it would be a good V-Day scent, and also since it’s a solid, that it would fade by the evening so I can apply any potential new perfume I receive tonight. XD
I was planning on cooking for the family, but fiance just called and wondered if I wanted to go out to eat… we try to avoid crowded restaurants with a toddler in tow, so we might go get cheap non-fancy food at our favorite Tex Mex or Asian fusion places. Not sure yet. And last night I made a cherry-pineapple-chocolate dump cake with the little and we’ll eat that for dessert.
I got the little a LUSH bath bomb (the cute frog one they had for V-Day). Not telling what I got fiance yet! I kind of went all out because our Christmas presents were kind of a bust this year, as in they didn’t happen (long story). I have no earthly idea what I’m getting but I’m excited to see.
Val’s Day was …Yesterday!!! I’m writing on Wednesday 1.15 pm Lol!
Anyway,Hubby and I do not celebrate Val’s Day. Primarily because our Anniversary is the 23rd of Feb. so we get “lovey-dovey’ then.
Therefore yesterday was “normal’ lol…wore 2 perfumes…31 rue cambon ,left wrist,on right wrist had Kilian’s Beyond love.
Enjoy your trip to Israel…glad Andrew will go too.
Happy V-Day belated to you and Drew. Great gift, glad I was a part of it.
(by the way, received everything yesterday).
We went to the mountains (and got caught in the snow), the drive back took a lot longer than we planned. It was fun. I wore Ma Griffe. I planned to change into Epic Woman by the evening, but because of the longer drive I just didn’t.
Late to the party (as always š ) but still! Yesterday I wore Rose Ikebana by Hermes. It was perfect for the quiet evening at home with a fennel-blood orange salad, toasts, foie gras and Sauternes-style wine. My vSO got me a beautiful bouquet (orchids with tulips). Everything was really nice.
Is Drew going to travel through Taglit-Birthright program?
What a wonderful Valentine’s Day! The salad sounds delicious and the bouquet sounds just gorgeous. No, Drew won’t be doing Taglit- they wouldn’t let me join him, as I have been to Israel before!
