Good mooorning, everyone! This post is a place where everyone can drop in sometime during the weekend and share their plans for the weekend and the perfumes that they’ve been wearing. I don’t have enough material for proper posts on the weekends, but I still miss hearing from y’all!
I will be spending the entirety of this weekend frantically studying for my last two final exams. I’ve got my Stem Cells final tomorrow, and Virology on Monday. You heard that right: I have a final on Sunday. Don’t cry for me, Argentina! (But seriously, cry for me, Argentina.) I do my studying at the Baltimore National Aquarium. That might sound weird, but consider that it is a much calmer place to study than my home environment, which is dominated by the savage beastie known as “Zelda”.

In terms of perfumes worn, I’ve been trying to sample as much of my Sniffapalooza haul as possible.

So yesterday I tried Robert Piguet Visa (waaay too much sweet pea) and By Kilian Love (probably the sweetest perfume I have ever smelled in my entire life). I’ve been wearing a lot of L’Artisan Parfumeur Poivre Piquant (I think that the sharpness of the pepper note helps me focus on studying) and cursing the fact that the 50 ml size isn’t included in the Parfum1 Mother’s Day sale.
Now it’s your turn: tell us about your weekend plans and perfumes!
Wore CB I Hate Perfume’s Ocean / Eternal Return to the Aquarium yesterday. LOVE IT! But sadly it was gone very quickly. I discovered I can get an Aquarium membership for the price of 4 trips a year. SOLD!
Today is the Mother’s Day party at work.1970’s Bohemian Garden Party, theme. I have a floral maxi dress, orange rimmed BIIIIIIIIIG sunglasses and an even BIIIIIIIIIIGER black and white floppy hat to wear. Haven’t decided on perfume yet. Thinking Cocktail or Karma, but going to go w/ my whim at the time.
Nothing else too exciting for the weekend, I’ll be cleaning my bookcase at some point, and offereing all the books I no longer want to a good home via my blog.
Best wishes on your final two finals, and thank you for getting Evita stuck in my head. (I woke up w/ Hot Honey Rag from Chicago stuck in my head.)
Thank you so much for the good wishes, Kathleen! I’ll be keeping an eye on your book sale- books are pretty much the only thing that I love more than perfume.
Congratulations on your aquarium membership! I have had one for the past two years, thanks to the generosity of my parents, and have never regretted it for a second. Being able to breeze into the aquarium at any time is an unbeatable luxury.
Hope that you had a great time at the work party! Cocktail strikes me as perfectly suited to big sunglasses and floppy hats.
good luck with your finals- heavy topics
I’ll think of you tomorrow on my way to work a full 10 hours work day (yeah, we start our working week on Sundays when almost anybody else is resting )
met a good friend this morning, for a couple of coffees and some light lunch and talked modern dance, baroque music and Tarkovsky’s movies
very much worried by my beloved cat, Dagobert, not feeling well in the past week and having some sort of seizure this morning- no perfume because of it
Irina, I’m so so sorry to hear about Dagobert! Please, whenever you have a chance, email or comment and let me know her progress. I will hug Zelda extra hard while sending good thoughts your way. I’m so glad that you got to see your friend as a little bit of a distraction. GET BETTER, DAGOBERT!!!!
Thank you for your sweet words, Ari, but this is a rather tearful day-he’s not well and we’re trying to medicate him to buy some time
Long weekend for lucky me. Yesterday I worked with the orchids, prepping them for the growing season. Wore Yatagan, which initially struck me as smelling like I had fallen in the rosemary bush, but now seems gentler. Went to the local dairy to get milk. Met co-workers for a chat-n-bitch dinner, wore Melange Cedar, Parchouli & Musk. Today going through mail/paying bills/doing laundry, working my way through Olympic Orchid perfume samples; favorite so far is Olympic Bay Rum. Tomorrow husband & I are going to see Tim Burton’s Dark Shadows movie. Will prob wear Possets Dark Lady. I loved the TV show as a kid, so looking forward to it.
You will ace your exams, you smart & hilarious person, you.
That’s exactly what my family’s doing for Mother’s Day, Julie!!! They’re even seeing it in Imax 😉 My mom said the very same thing: she doesn’t even care if the movie’s good or not, she just needs to see it for her childhood memories. She got to do that earlier this year, too, with the recent Muppets movie!
Thank you so much for the good wishes, and I hope that you have a wonderful time at Dark Shadows!
Tell your mom to watch for 4 original Dark Shadows actors making cameo appearances: Jonathan Frid, David Selby (whoot! whoot!), I think Lara Parker and maybe Katherine Leigh Scott. I think they are playing guests in a party scene.
The first time I got my nose broken was at a Halloween slumber party when we all dressed up as our favorite DS character. Aah, the fond memories.
Today, I’m going to go to Kinko’s and print out the hotel insert for the wedding invitations, and then try to get all the wedding invitations addressed between tonight, Sunday night, and Monday night. I’m going to try the last (I can’t believe it) Sweet Anthem that I have left to test in my wedding favor quest so I can write a blog post tomorrow or Monday.
Tomorrow, I’m not sure what I’m going to wear, probably something from my backlog of samples. Maybe Dita von Teese. We’re going to church, watching NBA playoffs, maybe doing something for Mothers’ Day…
Wedding wedding wedding wedding! (I know that you are far from psyched about the invites, but anything about weddings makes me squeeeeee!) Can’t wait to read the post and find out which Sweet Anthem will be your final choice.
I am hanging out with Mr. Husband this weekend, so I cannot roll about in all my new acquisitions, including my birthday bottle of Rubj which finally caaaaame! However, I am surreptitiously tucking some samples on my wrist or elbow from time to time. Finally broke down and tried Hilde Soliani’s Fraaaagola Saalaaaata (or however many A’s it’s supposed to have) – GOOD LORD what a sweet strawberry!
We watched “Who’s coming to dinner” and intend to leave the house at some point to acquire more milk, and perhaps finally see the Avengers. Also I have packages to return at the mall at some point. Boring, yes, but it’s a looooooovely weekend. 🙂
Good luck with your studying, and I hope Irina doesn’t worry too much – a seizure can mean nothing (my previous cat used to have them all the time), but if Dagobert’s been feeling generally poorly, I hope he feels better soon!
thanks so much for your kind words- have a bag of medication to try and make him more comfortable
In the midst of a work marathon; today is my one day off until next weekend. Spending it resting, working on art projects 😉 and making homemade pizza to share with my spouse. My kittyboy has been battling a sad claw infection and is having no fun w/ antibiotics, so we are encouraging him to snooze cozily on our bed.
Saturday I was at quilt guild in Big City, hanging with my ladies (it’s like having a bunch of really supportive and lovely aunts and grandmas, as I’m the youngest of our group – they’re good for my soul) and then popped by the local mall to sniff and spray before “thrifting the night away…” (Can you hear the song?). I sprayed the last of my L.T. Piver in the morning to see if that improved longevity, not really but it’s still right at the top of my heliotrope list. Later at L’Occitane got to smell the re-released Ambre, that’s some good stuff right there. I’ll need to do a wrist-to-wrist of it vs. Eau des Baux to see which I like more.
Sunday was church, and my choir did a lovely number we’d prepared with the 8-12 year-olds, and the kids knocked it out of the park. I was so proud of them. SoTD was 7 Virtues Afghanistan Orange Blossom, and it was lovely. Spent the rest of the day hanging out at home with my family, just relaxing, and got caught up on the lastest episodes of “The Legend of Korra.” We are huge Avatar: The Last Airbender fans in our house – although we pretend the movie never happened – so that was a lot of fun. A great weekend all around.
