Parfums de Nicolai Kiss Me Tender

In preparation for my upcoming massive Valentine’s Day post, I’ve been testing my more romantically-titled samples. (I desperately need to try that new Ramon Monegal, “Kiss My Name”. I don’t even know what kissing a name would entail, but I am totally into it.) Parfums de Nicolai Kiss Me Tender reminds me very strongly of one of my favorite scenes from the (frigging adorable) movie Despicable Me:

I mean, come on. This smells like marshmallows! Sweet, gooey marshmallows and an unusual touch of anise (the note list specifies the less bitter “aniseed” rather than star anise, and this anise note is distinctly sweet). I don’t smell the hay note so much as I feel it adding texture and weight to what would otherwise be an impossibly delicate fragrance. Kiss Me Tender is a dreamy, charming perfume, unquestionably perfect for Valentine’s Day or other similarly romantic occasions. If you’re a fan of Lolita Lempicka, Caron Aimez Moi, or any of those delectable anisic gourmands, you will be all over this. Before A Lab on Fire What We Do In Paris Is Secret was released last year, I would have had no qualms about declaring Kiss Me Tender the ultimate gourmand fragrance. And if you find WWDIPIS a little too warm or thick, Kiss Me Tender might be just perfect for you.

  1. Great read my dear! And what a funny thing – this week I received a 14 pieces samples set from Ramon Monegal and actually I’ve been melting under the charm of Kiss my Name today. Gosh, what a great perfume it is. Sheer white florals turning into iris, minimal powdery aspect, then a transparent balmy vibe and awesome orange blossom

  2. I’ve liked the Parfums de Nicolai scents I’ve tried. I’ll have to try this. I’m not usually into the sweet, sugary scents but once in a while I do like them.

    1. I got to visit her boutique in Paris two years ago, and it was sooo much fun! I even liked her Fig Tea, which Tania Sanchez called the nastiest thing she’d ever smelled!

  3. Kiss Me Tender is my favourite of the Nicolai line. It is charming. I didn’t buy it as on me it is a wispier version of Apres L’Ondee which I already own and adore. I wanted to love the rest of the Nicolai line as I love the heritage and affordable aspects but it didn’t like my Celtic skin. Vanille Tonka in particular which sounded like it was made just for me was an instant scrubber. Can’t win ’em all.

    1. Ooh, I like the comparison to Apres l’Ondee! Ever since reading about the 2011 reformulation, I’ve been trying to find a “new” Apres l’Ondee. Frederic Malle L’Eau d’Hiver comes close, but it’s just a little too thick.

  4. I’m looking forward to your massive Valentine’s Day post, and this one seems very appropriate for a love-themed week. It is sweet and shy and very romantic.

  5. This is so shameful, but I actually have not had the chance to smell any of the Parfums de Nicolai line! I don’t think there is an outlet for them here in New York yet 😦 But this sounds wonderful. My favorite marshmallow fragrance (and I never, ever thought that I would have one) is Love by Kilian. It’s sweet, but nice and transparent so I don’t mind too much.

    1. I love that you have a favorite marshmallow fragrance!! Kiss Me Tender is practically translucent compared to Kilian Love- it really is very delicate. And certainly cheaper! The “where to buy” section for PdN on NST suggests that you are correct, and that Scent Bar is currently the only brick-and-mortar store that carries PdN in the U.S.

  6. I was surprised at how much I liked Kiss Me Tender. It’s SO FLUFFY!! (That’s my favorite scene from Despicable Me, too. We have the DVD. Taz loves it. If he’s watching it by himself, he calls me downstairs so I won’t miss the unicorn scene.)

  7. Slowly out and more professional. Based on a power

Youu will need more activity. Not knowing how tto the best taxis in blackpool start to work naturally foor enlarging your maleness.
My butt seemed to be able to touch the back of your tongue in that week, I felt so lazy to lose weight.
