Getting my sap on today for my mom’s birthday. (Her 29th birthday, in case you were wondering.)
If you’ve ever been to Arielle Shoshana on a Saturday, you’ve probably met my mom. Monday through Friday, 9 AM-9 PM, my mom is a partner at a law firm. Then, on her precious day off, she helps run the shop. My mom, who is worth well over $500 an hour, sits in the back office and washes our dishes. She runs the cash register. She built our cabinets! My mom is the heart and soul of Arielle Shoshana. We do not deserve her.
The best part is that my mom doesn’t even wear perfume! No one is more surprised than she is to find herself the co-owner of a perfume shop. But she has risen to the challenge so completely, like she always, always does. I am so proud, and so grateful. Happy birthday, Mom. I love you!

I often ponder the source of her energy myself, Joanne. She doesn’t even drink coffee! She does exercise a lot more than me. And she doesn’t have a cat that wakes her up at 5 AM…
It’s the lack of the cat. Surely that’s it! It couldn’t be exercise, could it? 🙂
Very Happy Birthday to your Mom! Looking at her picture, I was going to suggest that she must be your sister, so it’s great to know she’s celebrating her 29th. I have to agree completely with Joanne’s comment.

I read somewhere that your business was owned by “Weinberg and daughter.” I always assumed that you were the mother and that the “daughter” was Zelda the cat! : ) Well, you are the luckiest girl in the world to have Zelda as your cat, AND Linda for a mom. She sounds like a warm, supportive friend and business partner. Happy birthday to her!
What a sweet comment, Emily! I do frequently encourage my mom to think of Zelda as her furry grandchild, with limited success. (In my mom’s defense, it is very sad to be allergic to your furry grandchild.)
Ari, happy Birthday to your very beautiful Mom. I hope to be able to meet her someday at the shop. My mom is also celebrating an April birthday — she’ll be 89 next Wednesday! Congratulations on having such a fantastic partner for your shop. And before I forget, Happy Passover!

Ari, she has many favorites (as do I), but her absolute fave for many decades has been Alexandra de Markoff Enigma. Which I introduced her to back in the 70s!! I also adore this fragrance in all it’s green and powdery wonderfulness.
